What Happens When You Have a Sinus Infection?

I was sneezing throughout my younger years and didn’t know what hit me. My school nurse told me that I had a cold. I believed in the nurse and I just kept it to myself. I would always grabs several pieces of tissue before going to school and clear up the nasal drainage throughout the day.

A couple of years later, I started to question if the nurse was actually telling me the truth. “How could a cold last so long and happen so often?” So I decided to pay a visit to the junior high school nurse. She told me that I was actually allergic to something and that I didn’t have a cold.

So I went home and asked my parents about getting allergy medicine. My mom never used it before, although sinus problems were quite hereditary. They ended up giving me something that made me drowsy throughout the day. So when I was in class one day, the teacher talked to me one-to-one and asked me if she could talk to my parents. She actually thought I was taking some illegal drugs. That was when I was 10 years old.

My symptoms of sinus infections escalated from that point forward. I’m about to describe 2 kinds of sinus infections (aka sinusitis). Acute and chronic sinus infections.

How Long Will I Have These Sinus Problems?

There’s man similarities between the 2 types of symptoms. The actual difference can be seen in the period of time for which symptoms will last. You can have acute sinus infections for 4-8 weeks. As for chronic sinus infections, these typically last for a much longer period of time.
