Guilt and gratitude are incompatible concepts. It is not possible to teach someone to be thankful. Children can be made to understand the value of gratitude with the help of us parents and grand parents. If the fact about world hunger is thrust down the children’s mind it is positively an abusive attitude. Children should learn to be appreciative for things the secret film they have not because others are ungrateful but because it is what is proper. If you experience true gratitude you will be filled with joyful feelings, not guilty ones. When we are truly grateful, we feel blissful and blessed. It’s hard to feel blessed for having a plate filled with food if we also have the images of starving children in our minds!
