Guilt and gratitude are incompatible concepts. Gratitude is a trait that can’t be taught. Parents and grandparents could teach their children to recognize and express their gratitude. If the fact about world hunger is thrust down the children’s mind it is positively an abusive attitude. A child shouldn’t the secret law of attraction be taught gratefulness on the grounds that they have what others do not. Genuine gratitude inspires feelings of joy, not guilt. I feel the most content when I am truly thankful. It’s hard to feel blessed for having a plate filled with food if we also have the images of starving children in our minds!
